There is no way that Brendan Rodgers was not disappointed in the aftermath of deadline day. The minimum expectation going into it was that the Hoops would sign a striker to replace Kyogo Furuhashi, who left this winter to join Rennes. But even that target was not met. Instead, Jeffrey Schlupp ended up being the only addition.

Now, Schlupp can play as a forward. But surely this was not Celtic's main plan. They had been linked with forwards like Mathias Kvistgaarden, Kelechi Iheanacho, Danny Ings and David Strelec.

On the other hand, it looks like one of their strikers was in demand on deadline day as well. No, we are not talking about Daniel Cummings, whose move to West Ham United did not materialise.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, St Mirren missed out on a loan deal for Celtic striker Johnny Kenny. The Hoops blocked the deal as they didn't want the exit to happen.

Kenny spent the first half of the season out on loan at Shamrock Rovers and he did a great job there. Now, he is back at Celtic and it remains to be seen how many chances he gets to impress for the Hoops moving forward.

There was a chance for him to leave on loan again in the winter but it looks like the Hoops were keen for him to stay at Parkhead. It is not hard to understand why that might have been the case either.

Celtic do not have a lot of depth at striker right now. If Adam Idah ends up getting injured, they will need someone to take his place in the team. So, opportunities might potentially come around for someone like Kenny. Hopefully, it does not come down to such a situation though.
