Celtic made plenty of additions to their squad in the summer transfer window. And this time around, they seem to have gotten a lot of their recruitment right. We already knew what to expect from Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah. Kasper Schmeichel has proven he is still the real deal. Luke McCowan and Alex Valle have impressed while Auston Trusty and Arne Engels are starting to prove critics wrong.
We are now in November. And the club will certainly be putting together plans on how to approach the January transfer window.
There is not a lot that Celtic need right now but there are certainly areas where they could improve further. It looks like they will be looking to add a defender to their ranks soon.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are looking to bolster their defence in the January transfer window. The Hoops will try to sign a new defender in January with Alexandro Bernabei likely to leave the club.
Celtic pushing to sign defender in January window
Bernabei is currently out on loan at Brazilian club, SC Internacional, where he is doing a fantastic job. Thus, it might be the perfect time to find him a new home on a permanent basis when he returns to Glasgow in January once their season ends.
That would suggest that Celtic would be looking for a new left-back in January. And interestingly, they have been heavily linked with Kieran Tierney in recent months.
Tierney is closing in on fitness after suffering an injury while representing Scotland at the EUROs. He does not appear to have a future at Arsenal though and it might be the perfect opportunity to bring him back on loan, with an eye on a permanent deal in the future if things work out and he remains injury-free.
