Things are not going Celtic's way at the moment. The hope was that the win against Sturm Graz would help them turn their campaign around. Instead, it is at its lowest point after this weekend as they lost 3-1 at the hands of Hearts away at Tynecastle Park to fall eight points behind in the Premiership title race.

Nobody would have believed that Hearts could put up a genuine title challenge. But right now, it appears that they are running away with the league.

On the other hand, Celtic find themselves in a world of trouble. And their recent injuries mean that it is not going to get any easier from here. In fact, the only hope seems to be to get to the January transfer window without allowing the gap to widen further.

Coming out of the game against Sturm Graz, it looked like Cameron Carter-Vickers was set for a long spell on the sidelines. And that has now been confirmed.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Rodgers told BBC Sport Scotland that Carter-Vickers is set to undergo operation soon:

"Obviously the other boys that are out, Cameron Carter-Vickers will have an operation tomorrow. So like I said earlier in the week, he could be three to five months depending for him on that injury."

Well, that ends any hope that Carter-Vickers' situation was better than first thought. He is now set for a long spell on the sideline and Celtic's defensive issues without him were obvious coming out of the match against Hearts.

Dane Murray had an absolute nightmare of a game. But Rodgers also admitted that the combination does not quite fit between Liam Scales and Auston Trusty due to both of them being left-footed.

So, what is the solution moving forward? We do not know. We can only hope that Celtic can find a way to get their season back on track because right now, it is spiralling.
