Celtic completed a lot of signings in the summer although they still left themselves weak in multiple positions and there are question marks over the quality of some of those additions as well. Of course, not everybody has been brought in to immediately make an impact. Some are expected to develop into first-team players over time.
In that regard, one of the brightest talents that Celtic brought in this summer was Callum Osmand. He was a standout at the youth level at Fulham and was even nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Year.
As a result, there is a ton of excitement around Osmand. That being said, the striker is not going to be getting first-team opportunities at the moment.
So, it would have been the right step for him to head out on loan. But it appears that even though an opportunity to do so was presented to him, he ended up turning it down.
Celtic player rejects offer the club were keen to do
As reported by The Celtic Way, recently Osmand had the opportunity to join a team in the Scottish Championship on loan. While Shaun Maloney and the Hoops were keen to do a deal, the player was not of the same view.
There are two ways to look at such a decision. On one hand, Osmand has chosen to remain at the youth and developmental level instead of going out and playing senior-level football, albeit in the Scottish Championship.
That being said, Osmand might feel that staying with Celtic B might be more beneficial than going out on loan to the Scottish Championship. To be very honest, how many youngsters have gone out on loan and gotten first-team opportunities after coming back? You can count them on one hand. So, there is merit behind that line of thinking as well.
