Celtic comfortably defeated Dundee United on Saturday to progress in the Premier Sports Cup, winning 4-0.
The Bhoys got off to a choppy start, with Dundee hitting the post twice early on, and they would go on to hit the bar three more times later in the game, but they took the lead in the 22nd minute through an Auston Trusty header and never looked back.
Camilo Duran bundled home his first competitive goal for the club from close range two minutes later, and the lively Sebastian Tounekti scored with a fine solo effort nine minutes after half-time. The fourth came in the 63rd minute when Benjamin Nygren scored the pick of the bunch, finding the top corner with a wicked finish.
Martin O'Neill made changes aplenty going into the final 20 minutes, and it took the sting out of his men, with Dundee enjoying much of the possession late on.
Viljami Sinisalo - 6
Made a mistake in the 15th minute when he played a poor ball into midfield, leading to Dundee hitting the post, but other than that, he didn't put a foot wrong and didn't have a whole lot to do, with Dundee hitting the bar and the post with their chances.
Colby Donovan - 7
Got up and down well. Donovan produced an important block just afrer the break.
Cameron Carter-Vickers - 7
Very solid and good on the ball.
Auston Trusty (Off at 67') - 7
A nice front post header to score the opener. The mistakes for the Dundee chances were made ahead of him, other than Sinisalo blasting a ball at him, giving him no chance to control.
Liam Scales - 6
Not too much to write home about, but solid for the most part and kept the ball well. He did have a scare with a miscontrol with around 12 minutes left, but it led to nothing.
Callum McGregor - 7
Calm and assured. Controlled the midfield well after a shaky first 10 minutes from Celtic.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Off at 58') - 7
A nice cross to set up the second ball, firing low into the box. Ox got onto the ball in some good areas and played some nice balls into the front line. A solid display.
Benjamin Nygren (Off at 67') - 9
A nice delivery for the opener, finding Trusty with a low corner. Nygren was also involved in the second, slotting through Oxlade-Chamberlain with an excellent through ball. It got better for Nygren when he scored Celtic's fourth in the 63rd minute, finding the top corner with an excellent finish.
Sebastian Tounekti (On at 70') - 8
A lovely goal to score Celtic's third, creating space with this trickery and finding the near post. He then provided the assist for the fourth with good movement and a pass to the inside. Tounekti really staked his claim to start ahead of Yang in the league.
Camilo Duran - 6
Reacted quickly to jam home the second of the game from close range after it broke free from Hogh. Duran is always lively, but he still looks a touch out of place out wide. Duran got a chance to play centrally for the last 20 minutes, and he looked more natural, there, able to show his pace in behind.
Kasper Hogh (Off at 67') - 5
Should have done better with a good chance at the back post just before half time. Never gave up and provided some important hold-up play, but Hogh didn't find as much space as he would have liked in front of goal.
Substitutes
Mika Baur (On at 58') - 6
An immediate impact with a clever flick in the build-up to the fourth. Baur wanted the ball and demanded the ball at every opportunity, which was very encouraging for a player coming off the bench on his debut. He did give up the ball close to his own box in the 74th minute, but it was a generally positive display.
Dane Murray (On at 67') - 6
Nothing of note.
James Forrest (On at 67') - 6
Nothing of note.
Haissem Hassan (On at 70') - 6
Nothing of note.
Luke McCowan (On at 70') - 6
Nothing of note.
