There seems to be no positivity around Celtic at the moment. Of course, the events of the AGM have gotten all of the headlines since yesterday. At the same time, even more worrying news has been confirmed by Martin O'Neill as it looks like they will be without one of their best players for the remainder of the campaign.

The win against Sturm Graz did a lot more harm than good. Celtic saw three regular starters injured on the night. And Cameron Carter-Vickers' one has proven to be the worst one, even though nobody was even sure whether he had picked up an injury coming out of the game.

Carter-Vickers went down late in the match against Sturm Graz and stayed down even after the final whistle had gone off. That was a worrying sign.

In the aftermath, it was confirmed by Brendan Rodgers that Carter-Vickers had suffered a serious injury. The initial timeline given was three to five months. But now, it looks like the issue is worse than that and he is going to be out for the rest of the season, potentially even missing the World Cup in his homeland.

As reported by The Scotsman, O'Neill said when asked if Carter-Vickers will miss the rest of the season:

"Yeah, we will not see him. I think it might be April before he's even on grass. Funnily enough, I did ask him yesterday, did he think he would be ready for the World Cup? And he said he thought that would be very doubtful."

That is some unfortunate news for sure. Of course, that magnitude of injury is always terrible for any player. And missing the World Cup is almost cruel for someone who has done so well over the years.

That is not the kind of update you ever want to hear. We can only hope that Carter-Vickers' recovery goes as well as possible and he is fully fit by the time he returns to the pitch, whenever that turns out to be. Our best wishes are with him.
