Celtic fans continue to wait for the club to make some additions to Brendan Rodgers' squad. In fact, the manager himself has made some comments to the media recently, talking about the need to move forward rather than becoming stagnant where they are. Let's see how the board respond to his wishes, with less than a year left on the Northern Irishman's current deal.

Celtic are on the verge of completing the signing of a centre-back, albeit only on loan for the season. The player in question is the highly rated Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, a standout at youth level for Manchester City.

On the other hand, a standout centre-back for Celtic at youth level has now completed a loan move away from the club this summer. His arrival has been announced by Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

On their official website, Inverness have announced the signing of centre-back Mitchell Robertson. He arrives on loan from Celtic until the end of the season.

Robertson has captained Celtic at the B Team level. He also signed an extension with the Hoops earlier in January. But so far, the opportunities have not come around for the 20-year-old.

That has not been a rare case for youth standouts at Celtic in recent years though. Even when they have done very well, chances for the senior team have been hard to come by.

It is hard to blame managers for that. They are under pressure to win pretty much every domestic game and also do well in Europe. Thus, that leaves very little room for error and experiment, which is why they are reluctant to give consistent playing time to youngsters. So, going out on loan and finding their feet in the senior game is pretty much their only option these days.
