Celtic could have the change to maximise their profit when it comes to midfield star Arne Engels this summer. The Bhoys are likely to see a couple of their best players depart this summer, with Engels and Daizen Maeda seemingly at the front of the queue.

Engels was the subject of some big Premier League approaches in January, but Celtic held firm, aware of the importance Engels had to their title hopes.

But there is an inevitability about his departure this summer, with the likes of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace said to be circling, while there is also interest around Europe.

Celtic could maximise Engels profit

Celtic are said to be looking for at least £25million to sell Engels this summer, with the 22-year-old a sought-after talent. The Bhoys have already turned down £20million in the past, and given the competition, it's likely they will do so again this summer.

But in a frssh boost, Nottingham Forest are set to sell Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for no less than £116million. That opens up a big need for a team with a lot of money, and Engels is reportedly one of the players they are considering turning to in the midfield.

The transfer market is rarely kind to teams who have money to spend, and Celtic will want to make sure that trend continues when Forest come knocking. The Bhoys know the East Midlands club have money to spend, and Celtic should make sure they maximise their profit as a result.

The ideal scenario for Celtic is that a bidding war plays out this summer, and Forest have the means to win such a war, and the Hoops should hold them to it. After all, other clubs will do the same to Celtic when they try to spend the Engels money later in the summer.

What Forest would get in Engels

The Belgian midfielder is clearly a huge talent, and at 22 years of age, there is still so much to come. Callum McGregor said last season: "Arne has been fantastic since he walked in the door. Big price tag, big expectation, and he has handled it so, so well.

"He's such a down-to-earth kid as well and just wants to work hard. You've seen that, he just keeps getting stronger and stronger.

"It's a pleasure to play with him and he's a team player, which is brilliant. Really happy for him. Top player and making brilliant strides."
