David Strelec is someone who was believed to be on Celtic's radar in the winter transfer window. In fact, if reports are accurate, then the Hoops had a £7 million offer rejected by Slovan Bratislava, who wanted around £9 million for their striker. The player himself did not appear to be happy that a move was blocked.
Now, the summer transfer window is around the corner. Celtic might still be in search of a striker, especially if Daizen Maeda ends up leaving amid constant links with Premier League clubs.
In that scenario, it would not be a surprise if Celtic tried to sign Strelec once again. And they have been told what a player like him could bring to the table for the Hoops.
Lubo Moravcik certainly knows what it takes to succeed at Celtic and he believes that if his former side ended up signing Strelec, he would at least score 20 goals in a season. As reported by the Daily Record, he told The Sunday Post:
"Right now, I have no idea where he will end up but, if he does go to Celtic, I think it would be a good move for the club and the player.
“David has the capabilities to score goals for Celtic. He knows his way to goal, for sure. He’d score a minimum 20 goals for Celtic in a season. He’s a quality striker and has a presence. He shows that every week in Slovakia. He also shows it for his country and he played very well against England in the Euros last summer."
Celtic offered bold David Strelec transfer guarantee
It is pretty clear that Moravcik rates Strelec very highly. And there is good reason for that. The 24-year-old striker has scored 24 goals and provided 8 assists in 47 appearances this season
Even more importantly, he has played Champions League football, scoring five goals across qualifying and the opening round, including one against Atletico Madrid. Incidentally, Celtic got the chance to see him up close when Slovan Bratislava played at Parkhead. He also had four assists in Europe.
Strelec has a decent bit of experience at the international level as well. He has made 28 appearances for the Slovakian national team so far, scoring 7 goals. So, someone like him could be a decent addition for Celtic, if he is available for the right transfer fee this summer.
