New season, the same old story for the Rangers. For the third straight campaign, the club have sacked their manager. This time around, it is Philippe Clement who sees the exit door, having failed the Celtic test like so many before him. The Ibrox team stuck with him for much longer than anybody could have expected though.
The Belgian leaves them in a position where a trophyless campaign is almost certain. On the other hand, Celtic are eyeing another treble. The League Cup is already in the bag, they have a significant lead in the Premiership and with the Rangers already out, the Hoops have to be considered heavy favourites to win the Scottish Cup as well.
For Rangers fans, it is not about trophies right now. Instead, it is about their next manager. Who will that be? Will it be a long-term appointment or an interim boss until the summer?
As reported by the Daily Record, Barry Ferguson would be an obvious choice as an interim boss. He may even call upon Neil McCann for support.

It would be safe to say that Ferguson does not have much of a managerial career to speak of. He was the caretaker of Blackpool at one point in time. After that, he had spells at lower division Scottish clubs like Alloa Athletic, Kelty Hearts and Clyde.
Is that the kind of manager that the Rangers need right now? While their domestic hopes might be as good as over, they still have a Europa League round of 16 tie to navigate.
Of course, that is not something that Celtic fans will be worried about. Their focus is on finishing the season strong and winning the two remaining competitions to end up with a treble again.
