Celtic need to back Martin O'Neill with signings in this January transfer window. Wilfried Nancy might not have been good enough to manage Celtic, but one cannot overlook that he was not handed the best squad either. Of course, one could argue that the Northern Irishman won seven out of his eight games in interim charge with the same players. But a number of those performances were not great.

If Celtic are to maintain that kind of form in the long run, they will not only need to be adept at finding ways to win but also get back to being the dominant team in Scottish football. Right now, they quite simply are not that good.

Things can change quickly though. A few good signings and the picture could look very different. Let's hope that the right additions are made.

Their next signing looks set to be on the flank. As reported by The Herald, Celtic are now working on a £2 million deal for Ivorian winger Jocelyn Ta Bi.

There had been rumours of a transfer bid being made for Ta Bi a few days back but then, no further developments were reported on. It looks like things have still been moving behind the scenes.

Ta Bi is 20 years of age and has only 40 senior appearances to his name. So, it is hard to imagine that he will come in and immediately turn out to be a game-changer for Celtic. But we are open to being surprised by a mercurial talent, if he is one indeed.

Signing another winger is a good idea, as O'Neill does use them in his system. One of the issues with Nancy's style of football was that it was hard to understand how things would fit in, even if a few players were signed.
