It is pretty disheartening how bad Celtic have been in this winter transfer window. After the failure of the summer, fans had been hoping that the club would be eager to make amends and get the fans back on their side by making some ambitious moves. Instead, it has been pretty much the same story once again.
The only signing that Celtic have made this month so far is the loan addition of Julian Araujo until the end of the season. And for a while, it had looked like Jocelin Ta Bi was certain to be the second one.
That did not end up happening, though. Celtic's move for Ta Bi collapsed at the final step. Reports suggested that he was already carrying an injury, which would need surgery. That did not stop Sunderland from signing him though, which has raised doubts about the real reason he was not brought in at Parkhead.
As reported by Pipe Sierra, Yaser Asprilla's departure from Girona is imminent. The ‘City Group’ acknowledges that he is an important asset and that they haven't gotten the most out of him at the Spanish club. There is interest from West Ham, Ajax, Celtic and Marseille.
Celtic now want Colombian international after transfer collapse
Asprilla is a full Colombian international. And at 22 years of age, he has a decent bit of experience at a number of clubs at a good level.
He has played a decent bit of football for Watford in England, and now Girona in Spain. Will Scotland be his next destination? Time shall tell.
Asprilla is 22 years of age and still has a lot of time to improve his game further. As a result, it might be a good idea for Celtic to make a move like this, especially for a bargain fee.
