Most Celtic fans would like to see the club add to their ranks up front and on the wings before the close of this winter transfer window. With merely days left to get business done though, one has to question how much work will actually get done between now and then, especially considering how inefficient the Hoops have been in recent times when it comes to getting deals over the line.
That has not stopped the club from being linked with one player after another. And now, it looks like they have a midfielder in their sights, despite urgently needing to add to their striker ranks up top.
Celtic and the Rangers had both been linked with Silas Andersen earlier in the winter window. Since then, the Ibrox club seem to have dropped out from the race, while the Hoops seem to be surging ahead and are the frontrunners now.
As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are now favourites to sign Andersen. Fotboll Direkt have the Hoops as front runners for his signature. Hacken are claimed to have already rejected a bid of £3.2 million from one suitor and are said to value Andersen at closer to £6.5 million.

Andersen is a 21-year-old Danish midfielder who is currently on the books at Hacken. A decent bid has already been made to sign him, but that has been rejected.
Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic will make an offer of that magnitude in the final days of the winter transfer window. Especially when you consider that they need to strengthen other areas of the squad as well.
Of course, anything can happen in football, especially at Celtic. But to be honest, this does not feel like a deal for this winter. Perhaps for the summer, if that.
