Celtic's best performers often end up leaving the club in the summer. That is a reality that fans have become used to by now. It is the model which has allowed the Hoops to remain successful at the domestic level for so many years, although they have never really been able to make a proper impact in Europe in recent times.
Nicolas Kuhn looks likely to be Celtic's next high-profile exit. While there have been rumours about Daizen Maeda's exit as well, the ones surrounding the German winger are constant and a new name crops up pretty much every week.
RB Leipzig, Newcastle United and Como FC are all said to be interested in signing Kuhn. One would think that Celtic would use this to their advantage and try to get as big a transfer fee as possible.
Instead, it looks like they have set a modest asking price for the departure of Kuhn. As reported by derwesten, Celtic are demanding at least €17.5 million, but are hoping for more than €20 million from RB Leipzig.
Celtic's Nicolas Kuhn asking price will worry fans
Of course, that is a decent figure. Especially when you consider that it was less than two seasons ago that Celtic shelled out £3 million to sign him from Rapid Vienna.
A lot has happened since then though. Kuhn was Celtic's talisman in the first half of last season and the man for the big moments, scoring against Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Yet, it looks like that is not enough to draw anything close to a Scottish-record bid. It remains to be seen if the situation changes in the coming days and weeks, but as things stand, fans will be disappointed if Kuhn leaves for a transfer fee in that region.
