It's time to check in on Celtic's transfer window again, with the Bhoys having had a busy week, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. Arne Engels left the club on a £22million deal, joining Championship club West Ham to become the most expensive EFL player of all time.
Elsewhere, Celtic snapped up winger Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo and midfielder Mika Baur from Paderborn, ending long-term pursuits of both players. Both made their debuts on Saturday, coming off the bench, and as the Bhoys prepare for the first of their two legs against LASK in the Champions League qualifiers, work goes on behind the scenes to try to continue adding to their squad.
Here we take a look at the remaining priorities
Central midfielder
Celtic need to add another central midfielder despite the signing of Baur. The Bhoys are going to need to replace Engels with a dominant midfielder who can pick up the ball and drive forward.
Baur looks to be a good player who wants the ball constantly, but he is a different mould to Engels, and it's something the Bhoys need to replace. They intend to.
Left-back
Celtic are going to have to find a new back-up left-back to replace Marcelo Saracchi, last season's loan star who was not re-signed. Kieran Tierney is an injury risk at the best of times and is unable to play a couple of games per week consistently. The Hoops need to find a left-back who is competent enough to play 15 games or perhaps a few more this season across the league, cups and Europe.
Goalkeeper
Celtic are going to need to sign a goalkeeper following Kasper Schmeichel's retirement in the summer. Viljami Sinisalo has filled in well and barely put a foot wrong. O'Neill may yet decide to keep Sinisalo as the number one and add competition, or he could add a new number one, whether that's a veteran or a younger keeper who costs a little more. But the Bhoys undoubtedly need another keeper on their books.
Reo Hatate's future needs to be addressed
On top of the required incomings, Reo Hatate's situation is going to need to be resolved. It seems to have been decided that Hatate will leave, but no solution has been found yet.
A few European clubs have reportedly expressed an interest but a sale has not yet been agreed. Celtic don't want to carry Hatate into September, especially as he will bring in a significant transfer fee.
