It would be safe to say that Celtic's partnership with Adidas so far has been a success. Yes, there have been a few misses here and there. Last season's home kit comes to mind immediately. But overall, there have been a lot more positives than negatives. And that is the reason why there coninue to be so many collections released throughout the season.
Celtic's deal with Adidas was set to expire next season. But it has been widely reported it will be renewed under a different framework. It remains to be seen how accurate that information turns out to be.
Initially, there had been suggestions that Celtic were going to be placed in Adidas' elite clubs category from next season alongside the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and more. But now, it looks like the won't be the case.
As reported by Footy Headlines, Adidas is making a change to its team tiers for the new season. Celtic, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, AS Roma, River Plate, Boca Juniors and Flamengo will be considered local elite clubs. On the other hand, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Liverpool will be placed under the elite clubs category.
Celtic's next Adidas deal takes unexpected U-turn
Of course, these tiers come with different perks. For local elite clubs, which Celtic will fall under, there will be new authentic kits with many collections, but only released in the team's countries, maybe more in other continents, markets with potential but not released globally.
Even that is a step in a positive direction for Celtic. Hopefully, it will help solidify the club's global footprint further.
There is no doubt that Celtic have some of the best and most passionate fans all over the world. And this should bring them even closer to the Hoops.
