Celtic must get major windfall after £10m Leeds United news
Celtic are enjoying some tremendous success on the pitch right now. They are top of the Premiership table, in the final of the Scottish League Cup where they will face the Rangers and are also coming off a 3-1 win against Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, one of the Hoops' best results in Europe's top competition in recent memory.
Of course, Celtic have enjoyed plenty of success off the pitch as well. It feels like the club post record revenue numbers almost every year and that should only grow following their successes in the Champions League this season.
On the other hand, there have also been suggestions that Celtic are ready to pen an extension with Adidas. The partnership has been a massive success so far and rumours suggest that the Hoops will be joining the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Real Madrid as one of their elite clubs from next season.
One would think that that should come with a major cash windfall as well. Especially after the recent news surrounding Leeds United and their extension with Adidas.
Celtic must get major windfall after £10m Leeds United news
As reported by Football Insider, Leeds United are still likely to earn £10 million a year from their new kit deal with Adidas despite their failure to secure promotion to the Premier League. Stefan Borson said:
"It probably won’t be worth less than when they were in the Premier League.
“I suspect they are taking a view that relatively speaking it’s actually a high-generating replica deal.
“The £10million could effectively be a projection as opposed to a guaranteed payment.
“We know that with Newcastle, we saw in the competition commission statement the way the Newcastle deal is structured is not quite as it’s been described in the press and it’s not a guaranteed amount."
It is believed that Celtic currently bring in in the region of £5-6 million from their kit deal with Adidas. Now, one can understand that deals are bigger down south. But even then, the Hoops should be getting a bigger amount.
Not only are Celtic one of the best supported clubs in the world but they are now producing results at the Champions League level. That should only grow their brand value.
