Celtic are said to have been rejected again as their frustrating summer continues to play out. The Hoops remain on just one signing for the summer, with Marin O'Neill claiming most players are rejecting the chance to move to Glasgow.

That doesn't exactly wash when you see Rangers signing at will, but clearly Celtic have not done their homework on their targets ahead of time, leading to last-minute changes, with the new season now less than two weeks away.

Celtic come up short in Dahl race

Celtic are now said to have come up short in their reported bid to sign Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto Dalh, who now looks set to join their Glasgow rivals.

Sam Cohen posted on X: "EXCLUSIVE: Jens Hjerto Dahl only wants Rangers + close to club-to-club agreement.“The Norwegian U21 star has agreed personal terms after making it clear Ibrox is his preferred destination, believing he can thrive under the manager.

“McInnes has fully convinced the player of the project. Dahl has also turned down personal terms from both Celtic and Cardiff, despite both offers being more enticing, financially.

“Rangers have seen two bids rejected but are now closing in on Tromsø’s valuation after significant progress in talks over the last 24 hours. Club-to-club negotiations continue, with Rangers also pushing through outgoings to free up the funds for a deal worth around €7.8m guaranteed, plus add-ons.”

The rejection comes after Jekechi Iheanacho, who Celtic were relying on to fill their vacant striker spot, rejected a short-term deal with the Bhoys to sign for Buraspor in Turkiye.

It has been the story of the summer for Celtic, who have only made one new signing so far, with Camilo Duran the only new face to arrive, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was brought back on a short-term deal after his release a few days earlier.

The Bhoys need a midfielder signing or two this summer as they plan for the likely departure of Arne Engels, who will leave a big hole in the middle.

Seven-time Norway international Dahl might have been a solid option, and he would have suited the Bhoys' business model, given he is 20 years of age, showing potential in growing in ability and value.

But it now looks as though he will join Rangers' growing list of new signings to work with Derek McInnes, who appears to have plenty of pull after his impressive work with Hearts last season.
