Snoop Dogg is believed to have had a soft spot for Celtic for a long time. Recently, he took things one step further though. While praising the club's fans, he also mentioned that if the opportunity to invest in the Hoops presented itself, he would give it a look. Just that, nothing about talks being held or any approach being made.

It was enough to get the media talking though. And plenty have given their take on why Snoop Dogg investing in Celtic could or would not work out.

Of course, the obvious comparison that everyone is drawing here is how well things have worked out for Wrexham since Ryan Reynolds became an owner. They are still playing in the lower leagues of England but have become a global brand. It would not be a surprise if they end up in the Premier League soon.

But things are not exactly the same when it comes to Wrexham and a club the size of Celtic. As reported by Football Insider, Keith Wyness said about the situation:

"I don’t quite get this really. My local team, Tranmere Rovers, have got A$AP Rocky coming in as an investor – I can see the benefit in that.

“We’ve all seen the Ryan Reynolds situation at Wrexham and how exciting it can be.

“But I don’t think Celtic need the money. It’s not a Wrexham situation where you are rescuing a club from nowhere – there’s money in the bank.

“We’ve been talking about how they haven’t spent it.

“It’s not about making more money at Celtic. Snoop Dogg’s social media reach would be great, but that’s not really the same as Wrexham’s situation.

“I don’t think this would do much for Celtic. They’ve got a healthy bank balance right now, so I’d question what Snoop Dogg could actually do for the club."

Snoop Dogg would certainly bring fresh eyeballs to Celtic. It is a world run by social media these days. There could easily be shows around the club and its history. The potential is there to increase the club's reach as a brand.

And at the end of the day, nobody is talking about Snoop Dogg becoming the main man here. Even if he did invest in Celtic, it would most likely be as a minority owner.

It is hard to see what harm it would cause to be honest. There is something to gain and pretty much nothing to lose. If nothing else, it would be an added layer of excitement for the first few years of his run.
