Celtic could do with another centre-back. That has become pretty clear in the second half of this season. Auston Trusty was signed last summer from Sheffield United but has failed to establish himself as a regular starter, leading to Liam Scales being brought back into the starting XI as Cameron Carter-Vickers' partner in the heart of defence. But it does feel like an area where the Hoops can improve.

So, it would not be a bad idea for Celtic to try and strengthen there. But with other positions in need of more immediate reinforcements, the Hoops might need to get creative when it comes to centre-back.

Interestingly, it looks like a Manchester United veteran is set to leave as a free agent after eight years at Old Trafford. So, that might be a situation worth keeping an eye on for Celtic.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Victor Lindelof will leave Manchester United. After meeting with the coaching staff, both parties agreed to part ways and not extend his contract.

Lindelof's stint at Manchester United has been deceptively long. He has been with the club since 2017 and over those eight years, he has made 283 appearances for the club.

When Lindelof joined Manchester United from Benfica, he was one of the most highly-rated defenders in European football. Admittedly, his career has not panned out as expected but the Swedish centre-back could be a solid addition for Celtic at the back.

He is set to be available as a free agent and at 30 years of age, there are not too many other clubs that could offer him a regular starting spot as well as a chance to play in the Champions League. Now, it remains to be seen if the Hoops consider a move or look for younger options in central defence.
