This January transfer window is going to be a very important one for Celtic. Having shelled out a fee to bring in Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew, it is safe to say that the club will look to give him every opportunity possible to succeed. The issue is, the Frenchman has a mountain to climb, and it appears that he is not even grasping the magnitude of the task he has been handed.

Nancy has lost all three of his matches as Celtic manager so far, creating some unwanted history. That includes the weekend's Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren.

He looks completely out of his depth at Celtic Park. There is no guarantee that investing in January will turn things around. But if there is any hope of doing so, new players have to be brought in.

As reported by TUTTOmercatoWEB, scouts from Celtic, Club Brugge, and Espanyol were present at the Penzo Stadium on Saturday to sign Issa Doumbia of Venezia. They're not the only clubs interested. Southampton are also keeping an eye on him, having already having made a €6 million offer in the summer.

Doumbia currently plays for Venezia in the second division of Italian football. He has also represented Italy at the youth international levels. He is someone who would add some size and robustness in the middle of the park for Celtic, something they have missed for years now.

It remains to be seen how things play out and whether Celtic make a move for him or not. It is worth mentioning that the club have been linked with quite a few players from the Italian leagues in recent times.

Another one of them is Napoli striker Giuseppe Ambrosino. He was believed to be a target for Celtic in the summer and it has been claimed that he is going to be available for a loan this winter when Romelu Lukaku returns to fitness.
