Celtic have enjoyed a ton of success on the pitch in recent years and that seems no signs of stopping. In fact, it looks like the club are well on their way to another treble. The Hoops already have the League Cup in the bag, are leading the Premiership by a comfortable margin of points as well and after the Rangers were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Queen's Park at the weekend, they have to be considered heavy favourites to win that competition too.

Off the pitch, Celtic's successes have been just as impressive. Every year, it seems like they post record financial numbers.

Interestingly, in the recent interim report, the revenue has dropped slightly. That is not what fans would have been expecting, considering the increased number of games in the Champions League.

As the report on the club's official website goes on to state, the revenue reduced by 2.1% to £83.5m (2023: £85.2m). Of course, an explanation for this drop has been provided as well. It reads:

"Although reported revenue has fallen by £1.7m (or 2.1%), and the total matches played over the period of 14 was in line with the same period last year, the match composition varied from the prior period and consequently, this impacted the amount recognised per match in the first half of the year. In addition, as the new UEFA format now introduces games in the second half of the financial year, an element of UEFA revenue requires to be deferred and recognised in the second half of the year. Both factors have led to the reduction in reported revenue but will reverse in FY25 H2. "

So, there is nothing to be worried about if you are a Celtic fan. It is worth pointing out that the report is for the six months to December 31, 2024.

Two of the Champions League first phase games took place in January of this year. Also, Celtic have made it to the knockout phase of the competition for the first time since 2013. That should bring in added revenue as well as they are set to take on Bayern Munich over two legs in a blockbuster tie.

It remains to be seen if they are able to get past Bayern Munich. But even if they don't, this should be another record financial year for Celtic. That should be reflected at the end of the season.
