Celtic kicked off their Europa League campaign with a draw against Red Star Belgrade away in Serbia. On paper, that looks like a decent result. But watching the game, it felt like it was there for the taking. Unfortunately, some old issues cropped up for the Hoops once again. They could make the most of their chances, missing plenty of golden opportunities to extend their lead before giving away a goal due to poor defensive mistakes.
It is time to look forward though. European football will be returning to Parkhead when Celtic take on SC Braga next week. But it does look like the club might be starting to worry about ticket sales for the matchup.
How many announcements have they made about Europa League tickets in recent days? Quite a few, to say the least. And now, they have put out another.
This one does not immediately inform the fans about the ticket details though. Instead, it urges them to 'cheer on Brendan and the Bhoys as they look to secure their first victory'. By the end of the statement, you will find the ticking information though.
Celtic make official announcement about upcoming game
We have already talked about how the ticket sales for the Europa League games have not been up to the mark. In fact, it was reported by 67 Hail Hail yesterday that there are only 20 sections out of the 80 at Celtic Park that have sold out for the upcoming SC Braga game.
There are a couple of clear reasons behind these bad ticket sales. First of them is the fact that there is not a ton of excitement around Europa League first round games, having seen the team in the Champions League for the previous three seasons.
Second is the fact that the fans are unhappy with how the club has been run and want changes to be made. A sure way to make the board take notice is not to buy tickets for upcoming matches. And they surely must have taken notice by now, considering the number of announcements and statements that have come out over the last few weeks.
