It is very clear that Celtic want to strengthen their options on the wings in this transfer window. And it had looked like they were set to do that with Jocelin Ta Bi. According to reports from some very reliable sources, both a fee and a contract had been agreed. But then an issue supposedly came up during the medical and the move fell apart at the final step.

So, Celtic were not able to sign Ta Bi. The club still need to sign a winger or two before the window closes though, especially after it has come out that Jota might not be back this season at all, after earlier estimations had suggested that he would be back in early 2026.

That has left Celtic even lighter on options on the flanks. They need to strengthen and as soon as possible, as the board struggles to get deals over the line once again. There is a positive update on the situation though.

As reported by Ben Jacobs, Philip Otele set to leave Basel this winter. His club have reduced their asking price and will consider offers in excess of €7m. Birmingham City remain interested while Wolves also have him as one of several names on their list. Lazio, Celtic and Bournemouth three other clubs to enquire.

Otele has 13 goal contributions this season. The player was close to joining Fulham last summer. Now, it looks like he is set to get his move this winter.

It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a serious move for him or not. If they do, this could prove to be a decent signing.

But then, we have often seen Celtic linked with players for it lead nowhere. So, let's wait and watch what happens.
