Celtic have been far busier than anybody could have expected this January. But unfortunately, most of that activity has revolved around players leaving the club and not arrivals. Kyogo Furuhashi's exit is the most prominent of them all and for good reason, as he was still the starting number 9. But there are plenty of others who have headed for the exit door.
The latest name to join that list is that of Luis Palma. It won't really come as a surprise to anyone though.
Palma was expected to leave going into this winter transfer window. Once a starter for Celtic, he had barely featured in recent times and was clearly not a major part of Brendan Rodgers' first-team plans at this point in time.
So, leaving Celtic was the right step for him. Now, he will get the chance to play some regular football, hopefully, and show what he is capable of.
Celtic make long-awaited announcement as move confirmed
Palma was linked with a number of clubs over the course of the winter transfer window. But ultimately, it is Olympiacos who have won the race for his signature.
Celtic have announced that Palma has joined Olympiacos on loan until the end of the season. The Greek club confirmed his arrival as well.
Palma showed a lot of promise early on in his time at Celtic after arriving from Aris FC in the summer of 2023. He was scoring and assisting on a consistent basis as it looked like he was capable of taking Jota's place in the team. Unfortunately, things have not turned out that way. There is believed to be an option to buy in the Honduran's loan deal.
Incidentally, Jota has made a return to Celtic this summer from Rennes on a permanent basis. Let's see how his second stint in Glasgow goes.
