Kyogo reminded the doubters about his quality once again this weekend with a brace against Ross County, helping Celtic to a win away from home in tough conditions. But the Japanese striker's future at Parkhead remains up in the air as he has been constantly linked with a move away in recent weeks. If he does end up leaving, they will need to bring in a replacement.
The club do have Adam Idah as well. But the Irishman has not convinced that he is ready to be the number one choice going forward following his big money summer arrival.
On the other hand, it looks like Celtic are keeping their options open. In case Kyogo leaves, they already have a potential replacement in mind.
As reported by the Express, Celtic have made contact with Mathias Kvistgaarden's camp since the start of the January transfer window. The Hoops are unlikely to swoop for him this winter unless Kyogo leaves the club.
Celtic make contact to sign potential Kyogo replacement
Kvistgaarden is a name that Celtic fans will be quite familiar with. The club have been linked with the forward for quite some time now and are also believed to have put in transfer offers in the past, although nothing has materialised so far.
It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for him in the future. One would hope that Kyogo does remain at Parkhead.
He has been showing glimpses that he is once again finding his touch in front of goal. If Brendan Rodgers can get Kyogo playing at his best again then Celtic should not even consider the idea of parting ways with him. On top of his game, the Japanese international is arguably the best that the club have had since Henrik Larsson.
