Striker seems to be one position where Celtic are looking to strengthen this winter. Kyogo Furuhashi remains the number one option up top but with Brendan Rodgers as manager, he has struggled to match the heights that he reached under the management of Ange Postecoglou. On the other hand, Adam Idah was signed for a significant transfer fee in the summer from Norwich City after a superb loan spell but has failed to meet expectations so far in the ongoing campaign.
As a result, Celtic have been linked with quite a few strikers in recent months. It remains to be seen whether they end up signing any of them or not.
Mathias Kvistgaarden of Brondby, Louie Barry of Aston Villa and a few others have been suggested as possible options for Celtic. Now, it looks like a Lille player is on their radar as well, as he struggles to find his best form.
As reported by Foot Mercato, Celtic are interested in Mohamed Bayo of Lille. Other than that, the likes of FC Metz, Montpellier, Como, Las Palmas, SCO Angers and Royal Antwerp have him in their sights as well.
Celtic looking to sign £10 million Lille striker
Bayo has only managed to score two goals in Ligue 1 this season. Thus, many fans will question whether he is the free-scoring option that could help the Hoops right now.
But then, considering the number of clubs interested in signing Bayo, he clearly has a ton of good qualities. Also, at 26 years of age, he is entering his prime on the pitch.
Let's see if Celtic do end up making a move for Bayo in the ongoing winter transfer window. If they do, it would be a risky move for sure, especially if a significant fee is involved as well.
