Celtic are being linked with another goalkeeper as they look to add a new starting stopper to their ranks this summer. The Bhoys have lost Kasper Schmeichel this summer, with the veteran goalkeeper hanging up his boots.
Vinjami Sinisalo filled in for Schmeichel during injury last season, but Martin O'Neill is likely to want a safer pair of hands as his number one. And it's not that Sinisalo did anything alarming, but whether he is a number one is another question.
Celtic linked with LaLiga 2 goalkeeper
The Bhoys have a clear need between the sticks, and they have already been linked with a few goalkeepers this summer. The latest is Las Palmas keeper Dinko Horkas, who has been impressing in the Spanish second tier.
The Croatian helped Horkas reach the semi-finals of the playoffs in the season just gone, but the Canaries side narrowly missed out to Malaga, who went on to secure promotion back to the top flight having pretty recently dropped as far as the third tier.
Horkas has been linked with a number of clubs this summer, including Olympiacos and Sevilla, and he is valued at around 5million euros, which is around £4.3million, still under contract until 2028.
Las Palmas chief Miguel Angel RamÃrez actually hit out at rival clubs recently, accusing them of bypassing official channels, which is the way the game has gone in recent years.
"We haven't received any official offers from Dinko, although we know there are interested clubs," he began his public complaint.
"But those clubs have got off to a bad start with us, because they're negotiating with him without negotiating with us. We want to keep him at the club.
"We have managed to get Jose Antonio Caro to sign a new contract with us and we want to have two great goalkeepers at the club."
Celtic face interesting goalkeeper decision
Celtic face an interesting goalkeeper decision this summer, having just enjoyed a positive experience with Schmeichel. Do the Bhoys turn to a similar, older and experienced figure, or do they try to sign a goalkeeper who will cost a little more but be the starter for years to come?
As far as veteran options go, former Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan has been linked having become a free agent, but there aren't too many other standout candidates.
Hertha Berlin's Tjark Ernst is a younger and more pricey option, while Horkas also appears to be under consideration.
