Celtic's biggest area of need right now is signing a new winger. The Hoops have parted ways with their starter on the right flank, Nicolas Kuhn, this summer. On the other hand, the first choice on the left, Jota, is expected to remain out on the sidelines with an injury for the remainder of the year. Luis Palma has departed as well. Marco Tilio is also someone who is expected to leave before the end of this transfer window.
So, all things considered, Celtic are very light on options on the wings. But they have struggled to complete a signing in that area of the pitch.
They have been linked with Michel-Ange Balikwisha of Royal Antwerp and Jakob Breum of Go Ahead Eagles for quite some time now. But Celtic have not been able to complete either of those deals. So, one has to wonder if it is time to look for a different option.
Rumours doing the rounds online suggest that Viktor Djukanovic is on the Scottish champions' radar. That is not hard to believe considering he is currently on the books at Hammarby. Celtic have been linked with a number of their players in recent years.
Celtic linked to sign Montenegro international winger
Djukanovic is a full Montenegro international. The 21-year-old primarily plays on the left flank but is also capable of playing as a forward, both areas wher Celtic need more options.
There is one issue though. He is currently on loan at Slovakian club DAC Dunajska Streda. So, signing him right now won't be a straightforward task.
That being said, ways can be found if all parties are on the same page. Alex Valle did leave Celtic in the middle of his loan stint to join Como FC. Could the Hoops try to pull off something similar?
It remains to be seen how accurate the rumours linking Celtic with Djukanovic are. He is certainly the type of player that the club scout. But until something more concrete emerges, it might be best to take the speculation with a grain of salt.
