Celtic's summer transfer window has left the fans scratching their heads. The Hoops have a Champions League qualifier coming up shortly. Winning or losing could end up having £40 million impact on the club, as that is what they would be expected to pocket as a participation fee in Europe's elite competition. And yet, the Scottish champions seem to be making no push to strengthen their squad before those two important games.

It is a strategy that we have seen them adopt in the past as well. Waiting to see if they qualify for the Champions League or not, before making their signings. And to be honest, it has never really made a ton of sense.

Of course, one risk that comes with leaving things late in the summer transfer window is that targets end up moving elsewhere. And it appears that a Celtic-linked player is headed to FC Twente.

As reported by De Telegraaf, FC Twente wants to complete the signing of Sondre Orjasaeter as soon as possible. The deal is expected to be finalized in Norway shortly and the transfer fee looks set to be around €5 million.

It is believed that Celtic made a failed offer to sign Orjasaeter in the January transfer window. So, their interest in the player was quite serious.

It is unclear whether they had considered a move for him this summer or not. But let's just say that that €5 million transfer fee is not something that is out of reach for Celtic.

The club have seemed very reluctant to spend much on transfer fees so far this summer, despite the big-money departure of Nicolas Kuhn as well as the windfall that came from Jeremie Frimpong's move to Liverpool. It does not make a lot of sense.
