There are a couple of positions were Celtic might look to strengthen in the upcoming January transfer window. One of them is winger. Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda have impressed with their output but have no real competition right now. James Forrest is no longer the player who can contribute regularly with goals and assists. Yang Hyun-jun has not registered a goal or assist so far this season.
Luis Palma, who had been so impressive early on in his run at Celtic, seems to be completely out of Brendan Rodgers' plans just a year later. He could very well be on his way out in January with MLS clubs rumoured to be interested in the Honduran international.
On the other hand, it looks like Celtic could try to sign someone they were linked with in the summer as well. Someone whose transfer asking fee seems to have dropped since then.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Michel-Ange Balikwisha was high on Brendan Rodgers' wish list in the summer until a muscle injury sidelined him. With a transfer asking fee of £5 million and a contract expiring in 2026, Royal Antwerp will be keen to do business again.
Celtic linked with £5 million winger before January
Balikwisha suffered an injury early on in the season and only returned to action recently. He was brilliant for Royal Antwerp in the previous campaign though. He has represented Belgium at multiple youth international levels as well.
The 23-year-old appears to have been on Celtic's radar for a while. If Palma does end up leaving, they could look to sign him as the replacement.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Celtic. Fans are hoping that they do sign a winger this January. Will that be Balikwisha? Or someone else? Time shall tell.
