Celtic linked with 47-year-old Irish manager out of nowhere

It looks like Celtic are interested in the 47-year-old Irish manager, almost out of nowhere, on the back of his recent success at Cardiff City.

It feels like Celtic are being linked with a new manager pretty much every day. It is not hard to understand why though, as there is no clear frontrunner in that race for the Parkhead job right now. The likes of Ange Postecoglou, Craig Bellamy and a few others seem to be out of the running already. And it does not look like anybody is particularly close to getting it either. At least there has been no such talk in the media about it.

Of course, we all know that things can change fast. After today's game, there is an international break and it will give the club a chance to ramp up their chase to bring in a manager.

It is very possible that the manager they want might not be available right now. For example, Kjetil Knutsen's contract expires at the end of this season, and many believe he would be perfect for Celtic.

On the other hand, the club might go out and sign someone who is already at a club. A League One manager appears to be on their radar in that regard.

Middlesbrough are believed to have added Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy to their shortlist for a potential replacement for Rob Edwards. On the other hand, as reported by Alan Nixon (via Football League World), the Championship side face competition from Celtic in a bid to appoint the Irish coach.

Barry-Murphy's name is not one that has been brought up often when it comes to the vacant Celtic managerial post. He is doing a very good job at Cardiff City though, and if they win their game in hand, they will top the League One table.

That being said, finding success at League One is no guarantee that they will do the same at Celtic. So, the club need to be very careful that they appoint someone who is capable of dealing with the pressure of this job.
