Celtic brought back Brendan Rodgers for a second spell when Ange Postecoglou left to join Tottenham Hotspur last year and it is proving to be a pretty good decision. There were some struggles last season for sure but ultimately, they did end up winning a Premiership and Scottish Cup double. The aim will be to go one step further domestically this time around. That is always the case at Parkhead.
In Europe, Celtic seem to have taken a step further already. Last season, they ended a long wait for a win in the Champions League by defeating Feyenoord. This time around, they have two wins in four games, with one of them even coming vs RB Leipzig.
On the other hand, things are going wrong for the Rangers once again. And with Philippe Clement's future in doubt, could they look to bring back one of their former managers as well?
Steven Gerrard has been heavily linked with a return to Ibrox. It was under his management that the club tasted their last 'real' success, winning the Premiership and stopping Celtic from 10IAR. Incidentally, that was the only trophy he won in more than three seasons as Rangers boss.
Celtic legend makes Steven Gerrard to Rangers claim
Neil Lennon seems to have not ruled out the idea of Gerrard potentially returning to the Rangers. As reported by Express, the Celtic legend said while speaking to OLBG:
"Steven Gerrard back to Rangers? Never say never.
"Gerrard is still well thought of by Rangers fans and although he's trying to make his way in Saudi at the moment I think you can never rule it out.
"I ended up going back to Celtic and it was fantastic for me, he might want to do the same at Rangers."
Of course, Gerrard's run in management since leaving the Rangers has been questionable at best. He struggled at Aston Villa while Unai Emery has thrived with the same team after replacing him.
Now at Al-Ettifaq, Gerrard is going through a rough patch as well. His side have lost five of the first ten league games, leaving them far down the table and raising questions about his future at the club.
