Celtic legend makes honest Ange Postecoglou admission
The summer of 2021 feels like a different lifetime right now. Things were certainly a lot different for Celtic as a club. They were coming off a 20/21 campaign in which they had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league. The club needed a miracle to catch up and that arrived in the form of Ange Postecoglou.
It was Eddie Howe who had been Celtic's first-choice. But when that move failed to materialise, the Hoops turned their attention to Postecoglou.
Postecoglou was appointed and not many were optimistic about his chances. The Australian would go on to prove the doubters wrong, winning five trophies with Celtic over the next two seasons before moving to Tottenham Hotspur.
One of the biggest problems Postecoglou had to deal with when arriving was the fact that many stalwarts of the 9IAR era were leaving that same summer. One of them was Scott Brown, the legendary captain who chose to join Aberdeen.

It looks like Brown would have loved the idea of spending a year working with Postecoglou. As reported by. 67 Hail Hail, he said on the Daily Record Hotline:
"I would’ve liked to have worked with Ange, if I’m honest. I worked with Brendan, I had the luxury to work with him.
“Maybe, in hindsight stayed another year and worked with Ange, but I’d already made up my mind that I was leaving. Once my head makes a decision, it always stick by it and whether it was right or wrong, I went for it and I got the opportunity to become a manager from that opportunity.
“I probably wouldn’t have played as much, and I understood that side of it, but I would’ve liked to of seen what his training sessions are like and what he was like day to day as well. To be fair on him, he accepted me down to Tottenham."
Brown himself has ventured into management himself since retiring and is doing a great job right now. Many believe that he has the ingredients to be a Celtic manager one day.
On the other hand, Postecoglou has had a solid time at Tottenham Hotspur so far. The issue, nobody has really been successful in taking the club to the next level. Before him, icons like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have failed. And there is a possibility that the Australian could be shown the exit door if he does not guide the club to a trophy or Champions League qualification. Just to understand the magnitude of the task awaiting him, their last piece of silverware came in 2008.
