Considering all the negativity surrounding Celtic at the moment, you would think that they are the ones struggling to keep up with the Rangers at the start of the season. Reality is very different though. The Hoops currently find themselves sitting nine points ahead of their crosstown rivals. This is just the middle of September.
Even though Celtic have been better than the Rangers for a long time now, we have not been in this situation far too often. Russell Martin has become the first Ibrox boss in 47 years to not win a league game after his first five tries, but it does look like he retains the support of their board, at least for the time being.
Celtic fans will be hoping that it remains like that for a long time to come. Because under Martin's management, it is hard to imagine the Rangers moving forward. In fact, it feels like they are getting worse with every passing week instead of adjusting to his play style and improving.
As reported by CeltsAreHere, Chris Sutton said on Sky Sports Football:
"What was also encouraging from Kilmarnock’s perspective, once they got level.
“You see a lot of teams, playing Celtic or Rangers, many years ago, when they were good, sort of, dropping onto the edge of their box and hanging onto things.
“But they really went for it. Unlucky. Other corners went in, and unlucky not to get on the end of a few."

At the moment, every team in the league will be thinking that they can go up against the Rangers and get points off of them. In fact, all five that have tried so far this season have been successful.
Many Celtic fans will feel that going away to Ibrox and drawing the first Glasgow Derby of the season was actually a bad result for the Hoops. That is how things have turned out for the Rangers since the arrival of Martin as their manager.
It remains to be seen if things will change or not. One thing is pretty clear though, Celtic cannot waste too much time thinking about what is going on at Ibrox and they have a lot to worry about themselves.
