Celtic look miles ahead of the Rangers at the moment. Right now, Philippe Clement's side are actually closer to 8th placed Ross County than they are to the table toppers. Of course, it is way too early for the Hoops to start getting comfortable. Things had looked this simple early on in the previous campaign as well and the Ibrox side ended up overturning that lead. But one would not expect lighting to strike twice. Instead, it is Aberdeen who look like title contenders.
It is not just on the pitch that Celtic are leading the Rangers though. They seem to be ahead in the race to sign a highly-rated midfielder as well.
Lennon Miller of Motherwell has been catching the eye with his performances. So much so that many consider him the best young talent in Scottish football right now. And it would be a surprise if he does not end up getting a big move away soon, whether that be to one of the Glasgow giants or the Premier League.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are ready to compete with Rangers over the signature of Miller. The Hoops have the financial advantage over the Ibrox side in their pursuit of the Motherwell player and are leading the race.
Celtic leading Rangers in race to sign midfielder
Celtic have not been very active in recent years when it comes to signing players from other Scottish clubs. But they did end up bringing in Luke McCowan from Dundee FC in the summer.
That has worked out for them quite well, to say the least. McCowan has made quite the impression since arriving and many even feel he should be starting over record signing Arne Engels.
Miller appears to be a top talent as well. He struck the woodwork twice in the recent game between Celtic and Motherwell. Signing him would be a major coup.
