It is very clear that this current Celtic squad is not good enough and there need to be improvements made to it over the coming transfer windows. Will Wilfried Nancy still be the manager of the club come January? It might sound a bit dramatic, considering he has only been in charge for three games, but we are not exactly sure.
He has lost all three of those games. There are already whispers of there being problems in the dressing room. And Nancy's comments have not done much to endear him to the fans, as a lot of supporters already view him as someone who is a bit arrogant and out of his depth at Parkhead.
Whether Nancy remains the manager or not, there are bigger problems at Celtic that need to be solved in the near future. One of them is the goalkeeping situation.
It has been a long time since Celtic had a long-term goalkeeper in place. Joe Hart did well to spend three years between the posts at Parkhead. Kasper Schmeichel looks well past it already, even though he remains the first-choice for the time being. On the other hand, it looks like the Hoops have a Premier League keeper in their sights.
Celtic keen to sign Premier League player to solve long-term problem
As reported by TEAMtalk, Celtic remain keen on signing Ilian Meslier as a possible option for next summer. They view him as a long-term replacement for Schmeichel.
Not too long ago, Meslier was considering one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. Times have changed a lot over the past couple of years though.
Right now, he is the third-choice goalkeeper at Leeds United. So, Meslier clearly needs a change of scenery and Celtic could provide him with a great fresh start.
