It looks like Celtic are set to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming January transfer window considering the number of midfielders they have been linked with over the past few weeks. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Carney Chukwuemeka and Andy Irving are all believed to be on the radar of the Hoops.
Now, it looks like they have a Manchester City player in their sights as well. And he is ready to quit Pep Guardiola's side too, having failed to get a consistent role in the team.
As reported by TBR Football, James McAtee has told Manchester City that he is ready to leave the Etihad Stadium. Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Fulham and West Ham United are among the teams who like the midfielder. Celtic have also made enquiries.
McAtee has only made two cameo appearances in the Premier League this season. So, it is not hard to understand why he might be ready for a change in scenery.
Celtic are keen to sign Manchester City midfielder
McAtee is the type of player who would fit Celtic's transfer policy. He is someone who can develop at Parkhead and then move on after a few years for a much higher fee if an undeniable offer does come in for him at some point in the future.
Of course, it will not be easy for Celtic to sign McAtee. There are a number of clubs in the Premier League who are believed to be interested in the Manchester City youngster as well and plenty of teams across Europe too.
It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a serious push to sign McAtee. It is also believed that Manchester City would prefer for the midfielder to stay in January but at the same time, Pep Guardiola has always stressed he will not stop any player who wants to leave.
