Celtic January transfer update which Brendan Rodgers might not like
Brendan Rodgers is proving a lot of doubters wrong at this point in time. While the away draw against Atalanta was a step in the right direction after that Borussia Dortmund result, the 3-1 win vs RB Leipzig was something we have not seen in a long time. Celtic actually won comfortably against a high-profile team at the Champions League level.
Thus, it is quite clear that Celtic are moving in the right direction in Europe. That is something fans have been waiting for for a long time.
Of course, success in Europe comes with its financial benefits. And one would hope that Celtic will continue to back Rodgers when it comes to transfers.
We saw signs of that in the summer. Adam Idah and Arne Engels were signed for big transfer fees. But things might not be the same come January.
Celtic January transfer update which Brendan Rodgers might not like
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are unlikely to spend heavily in the January transfer window. Well-placed sources have told the website that Rodgers “would love to strengthen the squad”.
Of course, Celtic have a strong squad right now. But that does not mean that there are no areas where the club cannot improve.
Let's take left-back for example. Alex Valle has done a decent enough job since joining Celtic on loan from FC Barcelona in the summer. But, he is only on a temporary basis at the club, and there has even been speculation that the Spanish giants will try to take him back to Camp Nou in January.
In that scenario, one would hope that Celtic end up making an addition at left-back at the very least. Interestingly, they have been linked with a move for Kieran Tierney in recent times, with his future at Arsenal in doubt.
