Over the years, Celtic have signed plenty of players from Manchester City. More than one might guess at first. In the summer, they brought in Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on a season-long loan deal. The youngster has not even made his debut since then though and there is a real possibility that the Premier League giants could recall him in January.
On the other hand, it looks like Celtic already have their eyes set on another Manchester City player. And on this occasion, it is not a youngster but a veteran of the game.
Stefan Ortega has perhaps exceeded all expectations that were set for him when he joined Manchester City. He has made over 50 appearances for the club during his time with Pep Guardiola's side.
But with Manchester City signing Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford in the summer, it should not come as a surprise that Ortega has not made a single appearance this season. In fact, he has made the bench just once. Also, his contract runs out at the end of the season.

It is pretty clear that Celtic love to sign Premier League veterans who are free agents. In recent years, they have brought in the likes of Kieran Tierney, Aaron Mooy and Kasper Schmeichel without having to pay a transfer fee.
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Ortega is one of the goalkeepers admired by Celtic. He is not the only one on their radar though.
Although Schmeichel did put in some great performances last season, his form has been on a downward trajectory for a while now. So, it might be time to move on from him, when his contract expires at the end of this season. Many would like to see Viljami Sinisalo get a chance but it appears that Celtic are open to the idea of bringing a veteran in.
