Celtic star Kieran Tierney looks to have picked up an injury after the Old Firm, now withdrawing from the Scotland squad.
The left-back has had a difficult start to the season in terms of fitness, already missing around two weeks of action after an early season setback. Tierney has a troubled past in terms of injuries, but he did manage to stay fit for much of last season after his Celtic return.
The nature of Tierney's latest setback is unknown, and we don't know how long he will be out for, either, but he will be helped by the fact this international break is an extended one, spanning around three weeks, so there will be every opportunity to return before Celtic return to action, especially now that he has withdrawn from Scotland's Nations League fixtures.
The full-back, who played as a wing-back in the last Old Firm, had to come off in the second half, with Liam Scales deputising for him. There was nothing to indicate the injury was a serious one, but it is enough to keep him out of international duty.
Tierney's early season injury issues only highlight why it was so important that Celtic found a senior back-up for him during the summer window, but they ultimately failed to land one.
Landon Emenalo joined on loan from Chelsea, but only 18 years of age, it would be silly to pretend Celtic saw that as anything other than a last minute panic deal to tick a box. Martin O'Neill will be hoping Emenalo goes on to defy expectations, but he arrived at the club injured, and he wasn't even included in the Europa League squad, leaving Scales as the only option for European games.
There is no shortage of experienced left-backs available, so the situation was baffling, especially with the proven Marcelo Saracchi having been available, and Tierney's latest setback only adds to the baffling nature of Celtic's business.
