With Kyogo Furuhashi's move to Rennes confirmed after three and a half glorious years playing for Celtic, the fans are now hoping to see the club bring in another striker before the winter transfer window closes. They have been linked with a move for Mathias Kvistgaarden of Brondby. On the other hand, there is also the theory that Daizen Maeda could be moved to a central role moving forward while the returning Jota features on the left flank.
It remains to be seen how that entire situation plays out over the coming days and weeks. Of course, striker is not the only position where the club need to strengthen.
Defence is another one after they have looked shaky in recent times. It looks like Kieran Tierney is set to return to soon, whether it be this winter or in the summer. Also, it looks like a centre-back is on Celtic's radar.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are one of a number of clubs in Europe interested in Odense BK centre-back Tobias Slotsager. He is out of contract in the summer and it’s understood that initial talks have taken place with his representatives.
Celtic hold initial talks to sign Danish centre-back
Slotsager is 19 years of age but he already has plenty of experience under his belt. He has made almost 60 senior level appearances for Odense BK. Also, he has represented Denmark at multiple youth international levels.
So, Slotsager looks like a real prospect. That being said, Celtic's recent record when it comes to recruiting centre-backs will not fill the fans with confidence.
Last summer, they signed Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki. Both highly-rated youngsters expected to compete for a starting spot at Celtic.
18 months on and Lagerbielke finds himself on loan at Twente. On the other hand, Nawrocki has made only substitute appearance off the bench this season.
