There could be plenty of changes on the way for Celtic over the coming months. Do not let the Rangers' bad results distract you. The Hoops are in a good position either. It feels like this squad has stagnated for a while now. And now to be fair, some fresh faces have been introduced into the starting XI this summer. Have they improved the team overall though?

On paper, it feels like they should have. There's a lot to like about Benjamin Nygren, Kieran Tierney, Sebastian Tounekti and Kelechi Iheanacho. That being said, there is not much excitement around this team.

Many fans have questioned the kind of football that Celtic are playing under the management of Brendan Rodgers. And it would be a major surprise if the Northern Irishman extends his contract with the Hoops, after how this summer transfer window turned out.

Kevin Doyle seems to believe that Rodgers is closing in on the end of his time at Celtic. As reported by CeltsAreHere, he said to Boyle Sports:

"At the moment, just listening to Brendan Rodgers in his press conferences and hearing him talk about summer signings, what he didn’t get, what he wanted, or reading between the lines, it doesn’t look particularly rosy there.

“Going back two or three weeks and listening to him talk, it feels like it’s very close to the end."

Well, it makes sense that Rodgers would not be happy with how things were handled in the summer transfer window. Most of the support is not either, which is why there have been calls for change in the football model of the club and new groups being formed to make sure that it is brought about.

Even if those changes come, it is hard to imagine that Rodgers will be in the Parkhead hot seat come next season. Doyle further added:

"For Celtic, looking at it, it seems to me that Brendan Rodgers is probably coming to the end of his time there."

Of course, it will be a challenge for Celtic to replace Rodgers. Admittedly, he did not do anything remarkable during his second spell at the club, like he had in the first.

That being said, it is hard to find reliable managers who are capable of getting you over the line on a consistent basis. That is something that Rodgers is an expert at, whether his team are playing well or not. Just look over at Ibrox and see how many appointments they have gotten wrong. Having the right manager in place is something that cannot be underestimated.
