The league season has come to an end. Of course, Celtic cannot afford to take their mind off the ball just yet. They still have the Scottish Cup final to play and a treble up for grabs. Standing in their way will be Aberdeen, whom the Hoops defeated 5-1 in their own backyard recently. But then, the Hoops will be without Jota and Reo Hatate at Hampden Park, and their performance against St Mirren on Trophy Day was not convincing.
While Celtic get ready to tackle the Scottish Cup final, the Rangers' campaign is over. It finished without any silverware.
Now, with a takeover by the 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh on the horizon, the Rangers will be looking to close down the gap with Celtic. Barry Ferguson is not part of their future plans, despite making it clear that he was interested in becoming their permanent manager, as the club have officially announced his departure.
As the news broke, many Celtic fans must have been keeping an eye out for Chris Sutton's reaction. The Celtic hero did provide one in the form of a tweet.

Ferguson had a better run as Rangers' interim manager than a lot of people had expected. But at the end of the day, he was not able to close down the gap with Celtic.
The Hoops not only finished the season as the champions of Scotland but they did so by a margin of 17 points. And one could argue that Celtic were not anywhere near their best either, and took their foot off the gas in the second half of the campaign.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Rangers. But it is clear that there is nothing that Celtic should worry about.
