Successfully navigating a cup tie against lower-league opposition is not for everyone. Thankfully, Celtic did not slip up against Raith Rovers, scoring five past them to get ready for Bayern Munich's upcoming visit to Parkhead in midweek in the Champions League. On the other hand, the Rangers' last hope of winning silverware this season might have evaporated as they lost 1-0 to Queen's Park at Ibrox.

For Celtic fans, James Tavernier missing a penalty in the 97th minute of the game was probably the icing on the cake. As for the Rangers supporters, it looks like another trophyless campaign is playing out right in front of their eyes.

One has to wonder if this is what leads to Philippe Clement's sacking. In the past, we have seen Mick Beale and Philippe Clement be shown the exit door for much less. Yet, the Belgian remains in the Ibrox hot seat, despite his team underperforming for over a year now.

Whenever the Rangers lose, Celtic fans keep an eye out for what Chris Sutton has to say. And the Englishman was in familiar form after the Ibrox side's cup exit at the hands of Queen's Park.

One has to wonder where the Rangers go from here. They have changed one manager after another, but there has been no sustainable success for the club.

Steven Gerrard, who many of their supporters view as a managerial success at Ibrox, only won a solitary trophy in more than three seasons. Yes, it was a big one but that does not mean that he was a fantastic manager.

If Clement is shown the exit door, one would imagine that a return to Ibrox would be on the cards for Gerrard, who left Al-Ettifaq last month. One would think that Brendan Rodgers would not mind that at all.
