If you thought Russell Martin was not given enough time at Ibrox, as the Rangers sacked him after just 123 days in charge, we have some news for you. Former Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou, has been shown the exit door by Nottingham Forest. He was brought in 39 days earlier and was in the hot seat for merely eight games.

To be fair, the Australian did not win any of those eight games. His latest defeat was a 3-0 loss at home at the hands of Chelsea, with Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto and Reece James finding the back of the net for the Blues and in the process, ending Postecoglou's run at Nottingham Forest.

It will go down as a failure, no matter which way you look at it. And it might very well be the first one of Postecoglou's career. He brought silverware even at Tottenham Hotspur.

Chris Sutton appears to believe that this might be better for Postecoglou. He wrote immediately after the Australian's sacking was announced:

"Ange better off out of Forest… what chance did he have?"

Well, there are a few ways to look at it. Perhaps Postecoglou did have a team good enough to produce better results than he did. That being said, 39 days is not nearly long enough for a manager to implement his ideas, especially one as specific as Angeball.

Celtic fans will remember that Postecoglou had a terrible start at Celtic as well. He failed to qualify for the Champions League and then lost three out of the first six league games. When it clicked, it was brilliant though and produced five trophies in two years. Nottingham Forest did not show the patience for that to materialise.

It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Postecoglou. He might have a tough time attracting another job in the Premier League anytime soon. He is not exactly the type of manager that you bring in to avoid relegation, which is what is mostly needed in the middle of the season.

Perhaps things could fall into place and Postecoglou could be free if the Celtic job does become available in the summer. Considering how things have turned out in recent times, it is hard to imagine that Brendan Rodgers will extend his contract. There would be no better replacement for him than the Australian.
