Wilfried Nancy started his run as Celtic manager with a 2-1 loss at home at the hands of Hearts. It underlined how weak the Hoops are at the moment, even if they might have won every domestic game under the interim management of Martin O'Neill. Of course, the Frenchman is under the microscope from day one as many fans did not agree with the decision to bring in someone with zero experience of managing in Europe.

At the same time, it is not only up to him to deliver success at Celtic. The club will have to do their part to provide him with their right tools.

That means investing in the right players in the upcoming January transfer window. One position in need of strengthening is up top at centre-forward.

The club never replaced Kyogo when he left for Rennes. And then they did the same with Adam Idah this summer, in what was a head-scratching decision at best. On top of that, there is a possibility that Daizen Maeda could leave in January, which would leave Nancy's squad in an even worse situation.

Louis Munteanu is a striker Celtic have been linked with in the past. And while a move did not materialise back then, it looks like the opportunity is there to make it happen this time around.

As reported by the Daily Record, CFR Cluj chairman Iuliu Muresan told Digi Sport:

"I said from the beginning that the situation with Louis was mismanaged and he is affected. The important thing is for him to understand, to have an attitude.

"Only then can he transfer to a higher salary for himself and for a higher amount for the club.

"What if we had an offer of 10 million? Yes, I would say it's good for him to leave, but the owner makes the decision."

Spending that kind of money to sign Munteanu after the season that he has had would be a risk though. He managed 25 goals in the previous campaign. But this time around, he has only scored three times in 20 appearances to justify a €10 million transfer fee.

It is pretty clear that Munteanu was interested in a move away from CFR Cluj. And when that did not happen, it seemed to affect his form. If available for the right fee, the Romanian international could be a decent addition. But what is that magical figure if you are Celtic?
