If there is one summer signing that has impressed the Celtic fans, it is Sebastian Tounekti. He has scored just once in six appearances for the Hoops so far but the overall quality of his game has caught the eye. At the very least, he is someone who is looking to make something happen and willing to take a risk, which you cannot say about the majority of the starting XI.

Celtic's options on the wings right now are very light. They are still trying to figure out who would be the best fit on the right. Tounekti seems at his best on the left, a space that has so often been occupied by Daizen Maeda in the past.

The last thing that Celtic need right now is for Tounekti to get injured. But unfortunately, there is a concern regarding his fitness coming out of the Tunisian national team camp.

As reported by Al-Araby, Tounekti is suffering from a thigh injury. He underwent tests, which proved that he is fine, but he needs a few days of rest to regain his full physical fitness. The Celtic medical staff has entered into contact with the Tunisian national team doctor, Souheil Chemli, to make a decision regarding his attendance at the camp, as the player insists on travelling to Tunisia and participating in at least the second match against Namibia, which is the most likely scenario, until the final decision is made in the coming hours.

That would explain why Tounekti did not feature, and was not even on the bench, in Tunisian's last game. Of course, if there is any doubt about his fitness, he should not play.

How often have we seen players try to play through what are perceived as minor issues and end up suffering injuries? That is not something that should be risked here.

It is easy to understand why Tounekti might be eager to feature for his national team. But it is then up to those making the selection decisions to make the right call, not just for the present but for the future as well.

We do not know the extent of the issue though. Perhaps Tounekti could be back to complete fitness with a few days' rest. Let's hope that is the case and he is good to go when Tunisia play their next game.
