Celtic have been linked with Mathias Kvistgaarden for quite a few years now. Earlier on, he was viewed as a talented forward who was not scoring at an impressive rate. But that has changed this season and the Hoops deserve a ton of credit for noticing his potential early on. In this campaign, the Danish youngster has scored 22 goals in 33 appearances, showing he knows his way to the back of the net.

Despite scouting him early on, Celtic were not able to sign him though. And that means that his transfer valuation has skyrocketed since then.

Earlier on, it was believed that the Hoops would have to spend a transfer fee north of £10 million to have a chance of signing Kvistgaarden. But the situation appears to have changed.

As reported by CeltsAreHere, Kvistgaarden has a reduced release clause at £9 million that becomes active in the summer. That makes him a more accessible transfer target than in previous windows.

It remains to be seen if Celtic end up making a move for Kvistgaarden, even for that release clause. One has to remember that that is still a very significant figure for the Hoops.

So, there is no guarantee that Celtic will make a move for Kvistgaarden, even if he is available for a lower fee than first believed. In fact, the Hoops might not even try to sign a striker this summer.

Daizen Maeda has been phenomenal in a central role and scored 33 goals. On the other hand, Adam Idah has done a great job as well, especially when you consider that he has played most of the season as an impact sub. The Irishman has still managed to find the back of the net on 17 occasions.
