It feels like Celtic fans have been waiting for weeks for Celtic to make some moves. They started the window strong but activity, in terms of incomings, has faded away over time. While players have continued to leave, replacements have not been brought in. One has to wonder if they are waiting on the result of the Champions League qualifier before deciding upon the budget.

Celtic have made one addition recently, albeit on a loan basis. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has been brought in from Manchester City for the season.

But it does look like Celtic have some other plans in place as well. The club have already made two signings from the J-League, bringing in Hayato Inamura from Albirex Niigata and Shin Yamada from Kawasaki Frontale. Now, it looks like they have their sights set on Japanese talents once again.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic have been no strangers to the Japanese market in recent years and are ready to look towards it again. Another potential move is still in the offing.

The identity of the player remains unknown though. And nothing seems to have been said in the Japanese media either. So, this is a situation worth keeping a close eye on. Let's see how it transforms over the coming days and weeks.

Celtic do have a good record when it comes to signing players from Japan. But it is important sign the best from the J-League rather than trying to make further project signings.

The likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate were already top players in the J-League before arriving at Celtic. The same cannot be said about the likes of Yamada and Inamura though. So, if such moves do not end up working out, it is not a surprise.
